EdTech App Analytics, as we practice it here.

A name can mean “dashboards for schools” or “growth for education startups.” At Datafeaturebase it means reading a teaching product the way a cartographer reads terrain: named features, honest elevations, no decorative north stars.

Learning apps are not shops with extra videos

Ecommerce funnels assume a purchase is the value. A learning app’s value is usually a successful attempt, a revisited hard item, or a tutor who can see where the class stumbled. If you import add-to-cart thinking, you will optimise for account creation and streak length while the lesson remains unclear.

EdTech App Analytics starts with the lesson as the unit of analysis. Install, session, and subscription still matter for the business, but they are not allowed to stand in for learning. We teach teams to keep both books and to stop mixing the columns.

The grammar we insist on

Events must distinguish playback, attempt, hint, skip, revisit, and device. Windows must follow teaching weeks, not only month boundaries. Findings must be writable so a curriculum lead in Thailand can disagree without learning SQL. If that sounds narrow, it is. Narrow is how you avoid another generic analytics certificate.

What this is not

It is not a BI tool training. It is not a warehouse implementation. It is not a promise that your store ranking will move. Residencies sometimes sit beside those workstreams; they do not replace them. We will say no if you mainly need Looker onboarding.

Where Thailand changes the map

Exam calendars, shared phones, tutoring homework, and bilingual households all distort funnels copied from US consumer apps. Our benchmark note lists ranges we actually use, with the caveats attached. Treat them as orientation, not a scoreboard.

How teams usually enter the work

  1. Bring one live product

A store listing, an LMS wrapper, a tutoring PWA — as long as events exist. Toy datasets are refused. If you are pre-instrumentation, wait or hire engineering first.

  2. Sit a programme that matches the wound

Vague “engagement” usually belongs in Cohort Signal Lab. First-session confusion belongs in Activation Pathways. Quiz chaos belongs in Assessment Telemetry. The full listing says which desk does what.

  3. Leave with a brief a teacher can mark

The output is not a dashboard theme. It is a short document that names three findings and one limitation. Boards that only want hockey-stick slides are a poor fit.
